Memorial Day

To those of you who serve in our great Military ~past present and future~ We thank you. Thank you for all that you do and all the sacrifices you and your family make for us. To my husband, SFC Sherman, thank you. Thank you for your 17 years of service. Thank you for your love and friendship and understanding of who I am. Even though we have been apart as much as we have been together the last 14 years I wouldn't change any of it. I am very proud of you and what you do for us. I love you babe. So many people don't understand how we can be apart for so long. For me its just another day in the life of an Army wife. Do I miss you ~ like crazy every second, do I worry ~ non stop, but this is who we are and what we do. I feel it is a privilege and an honor to serve beside you. (even if it is only on the home front) Anybody who is willing to put their own life and freedom on the line for the life and freedom of a stranger will always be a hero to me. Thank you and may God bless each and every one of you.

In 1915, inspired by the poem "In Flanders Fields," Moina Michael replied with her own poem:

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.
